Movie Matinee Benefits East Grand Ave

The East Grand Avenue Merchant's Committee is hosting an old fashioned movie matinee to raise funds for holiday decorations and promotional ventures on the avenue.

On Saturday, December 19, there will be a showing of Christmas Vacation starring Chevy Chase at 10 am at the Fair Oaks Theater on East Grand. It's rumored that Santa Claus will pay a visit prior to the show.

"We encourage people who need a couple of hours to themselves to drop their children off for the show (kids 9 years or older), or it's a perfect event for the entire family." said Iris Swisher, Committee Chairwoman.

Tickets are $7 and go entirely to fund activities of the committee. People wishing to spread a little holiday cheer can purchase tickets that will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club for use by their clients. Click here to see the flier.

Legislative Focus Provides Opportunity to Weigh In on Key Issues

Members are invited to attend a Legislative “Round Table” event on Thursday, December 3, 5:30 to 7 pm at the South County Regional Center.

Participants can have an informal, small group question and answer session with the mayor, members of the council or the city manager and community development director.

Fans of the Chamber-sponsored business travel tours hold onto your hats! We have two amazing trips planned for 2010.

Have you ever wanted to stay in a castle in the Swiss alps? Next it’s a look at the cloud forest conservation project at Selvatura Park and discover firsthand the natural beauty of the majestic Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. We’ll also visit an Orchid Garden and biological reserve and stop at the picturesque Sarchi Artisan Village, known as the cradle of Costa Rica’s craftsmanship.
